MES and Baku City Circuit Operations Company Deliver Joint Training for Formula 1 Marshals

As preparations continue for the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2026, the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan has hosted the latest training session for marshals specializing in firefighting and rescue operations.

Jointly organized by the Main Operations Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Baku City Circuit Operations Company, the training was designed to strengthen marshals' knowledge, practical skills and operational readiness in preventing and responding to fire-related incidents, mitigating their consequences, and carrying out rescue operations during the race weekend.

A total of 186 marshals participated in the training, which combined theoretical instruction with practical exercises. Among them were 60 personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations,providing an opportunity for participants to exchange operational expertise and best practices in emergency response and incident management.

During the theoretical sessions, Chief Marshals delivered presentations on fire safety procedures, incident prevention and the organization of rescue operations, further enhancing participants' understanding of emergency response protocols and responsibilities.

The practical component featured live demonstrations by the Ministry's professional firefighters and rescue personnel, who showcased the operation of specialized firefighting and rescue equipment used during emergency interventions. Participants also received hands-on instruction in the use of this equipment under realistic conditions.

The training programme, which commenced in July, will continue in several phases in the lead-up to the race.

The Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2026 will take place in Baku from 24 to 26 September 2026. During the event, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan plans to deploy more than 30 specialized emergency vehicles and approximately 400 personnel to help ensure the safety and security of the race weekend.
