Azerbaijan Joins the Global STEM Racing Programme Supported by Formula 1

Azerbaijan has officially become part of the international STEM Racing programme, an educational initiative supported by Formula 1. Implemented locally by Baku City Circuit Operating Company, the project aims to promote engineering education and equip young people with the skills required for future careers in science, technology and engineering.

As part of the programme launch, the STEM Racing Hub was officially opened. The dedicated facility will serve as a center where students can design, manufacture and refine their racing car models while preparing for international competition.

Speaking at the launch event, the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farid Gayibov, highlighted the significance of the initiative:

"We are delighted that Azerbaijan is now represented in this global movement. STEM Racing gives students an opportunity not only to gain technical knowledge but also to develop teamwork, leadership and project management skills. Many programme participants go on to study engineering, work for leading technology companies and even pursue careers in Formula 1. I am confident that our team's participation in the World Finals will be a valuable experience and will inspire young people across the country."

As part of Azerbaijan’s debut participation, the Caspian Apex team has been formed and will become the first team in the country's history to represent Azerbaijan at the STEM Racing World Finals. The competition will take place from 3–8 October 2026 on Sentosa Island, Singapore, bringing together the world's leading teams of young engineers.

They develop a complete racing project from the ground up: designing a miniature Formula 1 car using CAD software, conducting aerodynamic analysis, manufacturing components using 3D printing technology, testing the car, securing sponsorship, developing marketing and branding strategies, and preparing professional presentations for competition.

During the event, it was also announced that Azerbaijan plans to host its first National STEM Racing Championship in 2027. The winning team will earn the right to represent the country at the STEM Racing World Finals.
