The world’s fastest drivers will take to the streets of Baku tomorrow, and one of the most important teams ensuring their safety is already in place – the Formula 1 marshals. This year, nearly 1,500 marshals will play a key role in guaranteeing the safety of the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025.
From this morning, marshals have been deployed from their base camp at the Athletes’ Village to the circuit. They have already taken up their posts and begun final preparations for all possible scenarios they may face during race days.
Marshals are divided into several functional groups: fire marshals, flag marshals, track marshals, and other support teams. Each group has its own responsibilities, but they all share the same ultimate goal – creating a safe and smooth racing environment for both fans and drivers.
Today, marshals walked the circuit, familiarized themselves with their posts, received instructions, and took part in scenario-based training exercises. Every role is clearly defined, with all activities focused on maintaining the highest levels of safety.
Formula 1 marshals operate not only in Azerbaijan but across the globe on a volunteer basis. Most of them join out of passion and dedication to Formula 1. For many, this is not a professional career but a demonstration of commitment, enthusiasm, and love for motorsport.
Without the precision, discipline, and courage of the marshals, Formula 1 would not be possible. Their tireless work ensures that drivers can compete at full speed and fans can enjoy the thrill of racing in a safe environment.
The Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025 will take place on 19–21 September on the streets of Baku.
